Halloween Baking Championship preview: How creepy is it?

Is this week’s Halloween Baking Championship creepy or cute? In this episode, the bakers need to find both the scary and sweet.

Are you ready to call your mummy? Halloween Baking Championship might seem a little sweet, but the scary side just can’t be hidden. Are these desserts a piece of pie?

According to Food Network, this week’s episode, “Creepy and Crusty Creations” synopsis states:

"Host John Henson’s “mummy” issues inspire the pre-heat challenge of crepe cakes, and judges Carla Hall, Katie Lee and Zac Young decide on the creepiest. In the main heat, the five remaining bakers use classic fall ingredients to create jack-o’-lantern pies that are half scary and half sweet."

Looking at the pre-heat challenge, a crepe cake sounds interesting and should be visually impressive. A crepe cake consists of 30 layers of crepes with pastry crème in between. These layers need to be very thin but they also need to be intact. It will take a deft hand to execute these cakes.

For the main heat, the jack-o-latern pies might be quite difficult. First, pies are always hard on Halloween Baking Championship. From the perfectly flakey crust to a filling with the right consistency, these remaining bakers might wish for another plated dessert.

Thinking about the theme for the main heat, the idea of making a pie both scary and sweet can be difficult. From finding the right flavor balance to making the dual decoration, it will be interesting to see how the baker approach this challenge.

With only a couple more episodes of Halloween Baking Championship left, the baking competition is getting fierce. While Karl has impressed in several challenges, it will be interesting to see who can challenge him. Could one mistake drastically alter the whole competition?
