Start playing the holiday music. Holiday Baking Championship Season 6 premieres tonight. Even though it is just the start of November, it is time to start thinking about all that holiday baking. What deliciousness will these bakers be making on the Food Network?

Holiday and baking go hand in hand. From holiday cookies to traditional treats, it is the season to indulge. Can this new Holiday Baking Championship season inspire your next baking session?

According to the Food Network, Holiday Baking Championship Season 6 premiere episode, “Gearing up for the Holidays” synopsis states:

"In the first challenge, host Jesse Palmer asks the 10 bakers to introduce themselves with edible place cards and one-bite signature holiday desserts. The main heat is all about holiday wreath cakes, and the competitors must bake and decorate a Danish Kransekake featuring holiday ingredients like chestnuts, graham crackers or toffee. Judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Lorraine Pascale have the final say in which baker goes home."

Edible place cards shows like a great idea, even for the home baker. It will be curious how the bakers create something different for that idea. Will those dessert just be a sugar cookie or will someone create something more interesting?

For the main heat, the dessert, a Danish Kransekake, isn’t normally seen at your local grocery story. This traditional, cone shaped layered dessert is quite visually impressive. Hopefully, the bakers are well schooled in this particular dessert.

Traditionally, this cake is made with almonds. By making the bakers use chestnuts, graham crackers and toffee might change the consistency. Could these changes cause a leaning Kransekake?

Since this episode is the Holiday Baking Championship Season 6 premiere, the bakers might just want to make it to the next round. It will be interesting to see if anyone really goes big in this episode or if everyone just wants to play it safe.
