Krispy Kreme’s limited time Easy as Pie collection of doughnuts is perfect for Thanksgiving get-togethers with friends and relatives, slipping nicely into the background like the TV showing the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the National Dog Show and football games.

The three flavors – Dutch Apple Pie, Cherry Pie and Chocolate Kreme Pie – are available until Thanksgiving Day, which is Thursday, November 28.

The Dutch Apple Pie features apple pie filling, glazed with a caramel icing, then topped with streusel crumbles and hand-decorated with a latticed icing pattern, which adds a nice touch of classiness.

The Cherry Pie features cherry pie filling, topped with pie crust crumbles and finished off with a latticed icing pattern.

The Chocolate Kreme Pie is filled with a chocolate creme filling, dipped in a chocolate icing, topped with another dollop of creme and finished off with miniature chocolate chips.

“There’s nothing easy about making pie, but doughnutized pies are a different story. We’ve taken some of your favorites and transformed them into delicious doughnuts,” Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme chief marketing officer, said in a press release. “Buy. Share. Eat. Easy as pie.”

After tasting the Dutch Apple Pie and the Cherry Pie, I can confirm that they are both spectacular and delicious, hitting just the right notes of familiar pie favorites, and coming in a doughnut makes them much easier to enjoy.

The Chocolate Kreme Pie sounds a little over the top in how chocolatey and sugary it is, but if you like that sort of thing, then it would be a good pick.

While turkey or ham is the traditional food item associated with Thanksgiving, pies are really where the memories (and calories) come from – Spoon University reports that 50 million pumpkin pies will be consumed this Thanksgiving, and pecan pie has the highest calorie count of any of the Thanksgiving foods typically served.

Unfortunately, while they taste amazing, pies also take forever to make. That makes the Easy as Pie collection just right for family Thanksgiving celebrations and more casual Friendsgiving get-togethers.

On Saturday, November 23, Krispy Kreme can get two dozen doughnuts for $13 at participating locations. Customers can get either two boxes of Original Glazed doughnuts or one box of Original Glazed and another assorted box. There is a limit of two redemptions per customer, and they need to use the following bar code found on the Krispy Kreme website.
