Christmas Cookie Challenge Season 3 episode 2 preview: Tis’ the Season
Sugar and spice and everything nice is coming to Christmas Cookie Challenge. Are these talented bakers up for the cookie challenge?
Ready for another exciting episode of Christmas Cookie Challenge? After last week’s premiere, this new season looks to be bigger and better than ever. Can these cookie makers make the baking cut?
According to the Food Network, this week’s Christmas Cookie Challenge episode, “Center of the Season” features the following.
"Five of the most talented cookie makers in America strive for the spotlight when Eddie Jackson presents the most difficult decorating challenge of all — the dreaded slice-and-bake. The design must be baked into the cookie itself, and judges Vivian Chan, Ree Drummond and Dan Langan decide which baker makes the cut. Then the competitors have to create showstopping centerpieces made of cookies, but there’s a catch: They have to use herbs and spices like sage, thyme, tarragon and cumin. The table is set for a sensational sugar-filled scrap for the $10,000 prize."
For the first challenge, it might not seem quite difficult to the home baker, but, in reality, it is quite difficult. Creating a design within a slice and bake cookie isn’t like the versions home bakers buy in store.
In this Food Network show, the judges are looking for precision. If the cookie is to have the imprint of a Christmas tree, it better looking like a tree. No abstract imagery will be appreciated in this cookie challenge.
Looking at the second challenge, this concept is an idea that more home bakers should adopt. Adding herbs and spices to sweet dishes is a great idea. The flavors can add balance and nuance to a cookie.
The key to these cookies will be making the flavors balance. It needs to be subtle, yet present. No one wants a cookie to taste like a side dish.
