Holiday Baking Championship preview: Who is filling grateful?
Holiday Baking Championship is back and feeling grateful this week. Can these bakers find a pie-tastic recipe to impress the Food Network judges?
It is a new week and Holiday Baking Championship has the ovens pre-heated for another tasty treat. As everyone prepares for the ultimate food holiday, the bakers need to channel some gratitude into these delectable desserts. Are you ready to feel fulfilled?
According to the Food Network, this week’s Holiday Baking Championship episode, “Filling Gratitude” synopsis states:
"The popularity of holiday spiced nuts inspires Jesse Palmer’s challenge to the nine bakers: Use the crowd-pleasing holiday gift to create holiday spiced nut desserts. In the main heat, each baker must make three pies using an assigned harvest ingredient and decorate each pie crust differently. Judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Lorraine Pascale send one baker packing."
Looking at this synopsis, the pre-heat challenge could be quite interesting. Spiced nuts seem to be everywhere during the holiday, specially the freshly made, warm nuts at a Christmas market.
Given that the pre-heat is usually a quicker challenge, it will be curious to see how the bakers can transform the spiced nuts into a new dessert. Also, will these bakers do something creative or will they continue to play it a little safe in the beginning of this new season?
Looking at the main heat, the pie challenge could prove to be difficult. While this challenge may not be as difficult as a kransekake, pies often send good bakers home.
Creating three pies in a limited time could be quite difficult. While the bakers should be able to use the same pie crust, they need to be smart in their pie choices. At least one pie needs to be quick and easy.
Lastly, decorating the pie crusts doesn’t necessarily need to be elaborate. Again, the bakers need to choose wisely. What pretty decorations can be used that still executed within the timeframe.
