Holiday Baking Championship preview: Trendsetters or traditional?
With a touch of savory in these challenges, these Holiday Baking Championship bakers have some thankfulness to share around the table.
Are you feeling grateful for Holiday Baking Championship this season? This week’s episode could inspire your Thanksgiving dessert table. But, will these creative desserts be a hit or not get someone invited for another visit?
According to the Food Network, this week’s Holiday Baking Championship episode, “Trendsetting Turkey Day” synopsis states:
"In the first challenge, Jesse Palmer tasks the seven bakers with taking a beloved holiday appetizer to a whole new level with baked Brie and jam mini pies. The main heat is all about being prepared for greatness as the bakers take a prepared ingredient and use it to make a crowd-pleasing Thanksgiving dessert. In the end, judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Lorraine Pascale send one competitor home."
Looking at the pre-heat challenge, a jam mini pie could be quite difficult. In the previous challenges, pie crusts failed a few bakers. Hopefully, everyone will get some pie redemption.
Also, the idea of combining baked Brie and jam mini pies is quite interesting. While jam and Brie can be a lovely combination, it isn’t the most common dessert option.
For the main heat, this challenge could be quite difficult. Using prepared ingredients in baking is always difficult. Just like in savory cooking, that prepared ingredient can create difficultly in seasoning. It is always easier to use something that isn’t previously prepared.
Depending on how the ingredients are assigned (or grabbed), some good bakers could be in trouble. The secret ingredient will be key to a baker’s success. While canned cranberry might not be a family favorite, that ingredient could be easier than a leftover piece of pie.
