Holiday Baking Championship preview: Ready to igloo?
In this week’s Holiday Baking Championship, the bakers have to channel their inner architect. Will these desserts be igloo perfection or will they be icy disasters?
Another Holiday Baking Championship episode is here and the bakers are preparing for the ultimate winter-wonderland. With five bakers left in the Food Network competition, these bakers better not get too comfortable. The icy chill is definitely taking over the kitchen.
According to the Food Network, this week’s episode, “North Pole Vaulting” will feature the following:
"Jesse Palmer challenges the five bakers to create assigned desserts that are inspired by and look like Santa Claus. To secure their place in the final four, the bakers are tasked with creating impressive cakes made to look like another icy North Pole staple: an igloo. Judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Lorraine Pascale decide which bakers move on to the next round and which one goes home."
For the pre-heat, a dessert that looks like Santa Claus shouldn’t be overly difficult. Given the talent of these bakers, this dessert should be in their reach.
The key to this challenge will be creativity. The baker who can blend the visual and the taste will earn the advantage.
Considerably more difficult, the main heat will tax the bakers. An igloo presents a difficult shape. It will be curious to see how the bakers accomplish this task.
From molds to sculpted cakes, there could be many ways to make an igloo. While shape will be a factor, the taste of the dessert always comes into play. Could a fallen igloo still serve up another day in the Food Network competition?
