Leaving free snacks for delivery drivers is more common than you think

Delivery drivers are under a lot of pressure this time of year. But their efforts don’t always go unnoticed.

Plenty of families across the country still make an effort to leave snacks for Santa (and his reindeer, of course!) on Christmas Eve. And this is just one of many ways free food plays a role in spreading holiday cheer this time of year.

At a particularly busy season for retail workers, delivery drivers, and other members of the service industry, random acts of kindness are sometimes hard to come by. But it may surprise you how many individuals actually put in the effort to make these workers feel appreciated around the holidays.

In particular, it might be more common than you think for delivery drivers to find special (and delicious) surprises waiting for them when they approach strangers’ front doors with packages in hand.

Even today, people are making an effort to leave free snacks on their doorsteps specifically for the individuals responsible for delivering the gifts and other items they have ordered online. Not everyone easily forgets that coming home to a plethora of Amazon boxes at the ready isn’t just some kind of Christmas miracle.

The most heartwarming part about this is that there is now on-camera proof that drivers really do appreciate receiving something nice in return for the efforts they make to deliver packages on time. Even if you don’t do it for the gratitude, it’s nice to know that you really can make a difference in someone’s life even without meeting them face to face.

If there is one way to get into the spirit of the season, it’s giving far more than you receive — without expecting a single thing in return. Everybody loves snacks, especially free snacks. And what’s better than free snacks? SURPRISE free snacks. You can be the provider of such a wonder.

So if you’re like me, and have a worrisome amount of packages soon to be delivered to your doorstep just in time for the holidays, take the time to set out some free snacks for those responsible for getting your purchases delivered.

Even the smallest kind gesture can make someone’s day. It is always worth the effort, and will surely put a smile on your face, too.
