Worst Cooks in America Season 18 episode 4 preview: Taste test?
In this week’s Worst Cooks in America, the recruits put their new skills to the test. Can these aspiring cooks handle the pressure in the kitchen?
Worst Cooks in America are making progress in this Food Network competition. While they have made indulgent salads and lucky dumplings, the recruits are looking to expand on their culinary skills. Can this week’s challenge nudge them closer to being real cooks?
According to the Food Network, this week’s episode, “Simple Yet Sophisticated” features the following synopsis:
"The recruits enter the world of culinary sophistication, starting with a game where they have to taste and identify different crepe fillings. Then Anne Burrell and Alton Brown show them how to make their own crepes. For the main dish challenge, the recruits create a duck dish, and the recruits who “quack” under the pressure will be going home."
Looking at the first challenge, it is a good measure of what the recruits have learned. Tasting ingredients is so important to creating a good dish. Hopefully, they have started to push their palate.
Also, crepe ingredients are fairly straight forward. This challenge shouldn’t be too difficult. If the recruits can’t tell the difference between a strawberry and a blueberry, everyone has a problem.
As for the duck dish challenge, duck is a difficult protein to master. Hopefully, the recruits take good notes during the teaching portion.
With duck as the main protein, the recruits need to be precise in their cooking. Undercooked duck is a horrible dish to eat. Over cooked duck is equally bad. Again, this challenge will be about executing a smart dish.
