Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back: Botto’s preview
Another kitchen nightmare comes to Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back. Can this restaurant find the passion or will they go back to their old school ways?
While a family business might sound promising, Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back only finds family denial in this week’s episode. Although Butto’s might be an old school Italian restaurant, it is in desperate need of an update, and a kitchen deep clean. Are those horrible kitchen smells returning?
According to Fox, this week’s Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back episode, “Botto’s Italian Line Restaurant” features the following:
"Gordon Ramsay’s “Hell On Wheels” travels to Botto’s, an Italian restaurant located in Sweedsboro, NJ. Chef Ramsay and his crew find two brothers whose constant fighting makes work difficult for their staff. Ramsay will try to bring this failing restaurant back from the brink of disaster – all in just 24 hours. As the clock ticks down, Ramsay and his team transform this restaurant with a spectacular renovation, a fresh new menu and hope for the future in the all-new “Botto’s Italian Line Restaurant” episode of GORDON RAMSAY’S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK airing Tuesday, Jan. 28 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (HRS-304) (TV-14 L)"
The first part of this synopsis features a common problem in the restaurant industry. When owners, chefs and staff do not communicate, the restaurant will never succeed.
As Gordon says, a successful restaurant is driven by passion, amazing food and a staff that cares. When one of those aspects disappears, the restaurant struggles. In this case, the fighting brothers need to find common ground.
And, it seems that the bickering is leading to lack of caring in the kitchen. Check out this video preview of the kitchen disaster.
Can anyone believe that an Italian restaurant is serving nacho cheese and guacamole? While people like variety, that menu item doesn’t seem to work in an Italian restaurant.
Looking at current Yelp reviews for Botto’s, it seems that Gordon pared down the menu. While some people would prefer bigger portions, a smaller menu with a la carte options can help turn a restaurant around. It is a smart business decision.
As for the personal dynamics, those changes cannot be managed by Gordon’s advice alone. If people cannot find the common ground, the restaurant will continue to struggle.
