McDonald’s OREO Shamrock McFlurry is the perfect way to celebrate 50 years of Shamrock shakes

McDonald’s OREO Shamrock McFlurry is coming to the McDonald’s menu just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the classic Shamrock Shake.

It is almost here, Shamrock Shake season. To make a bigger splash this year, the new McDonald’s OREO Shamrock McFlurry is coming to stores later this month. Can you think of a better way to celebrate the spring time classic turning 50?

In a recently release McDonald’s announcement, the newest McFlurry flavor will blend that cult classic Shamrock flavor with OREO pieces. It will be the perfect combination of minty chocolate. Are you craving a spoonful yet?

According to McDonald’s, the chefs worked hard to ensure that each and every bite has the perfect combination of mint, OREO and vanilla soft serve. It might make people order a large McFlurry just to satisfy that craving.

The combination of mint and OREO is a great one. It is surprising that McDonald’s hadn’t thought of this idea sooner. While there have been various ways to customize a Shamrock Shake (half flavor combinations), this new frozen dessert will quickly become a must try. Most likely it will be even more popular that the holiday Snickerdoodle McFlurry.

Given the McFlurry options, it is interesting that McDonald’s choose OREO as the mix-in. While M&Ms would also work, OREO and mint are a great pairing. Given the Shamrock flavoring, it is probably best to stick with a plain OREO versus the mint flavored ones.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Shamrock Shake. The cult classic has become an annual event. Who hasn’t patiently waited for the arrival of the bright green frozen treat. Everyone seems to enjoy at least a few before those seasonal shakes disappear for another year.

Given that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the minty shake, McDonald’s will definitely find many ways to mark the golden occasion. It will be curious to see what other festivities will rolled out closer to the official return date.

For now, everyone will have to count down the days to the OREO Shamrock McFlurry and the Shamrock Shake return on February 19. Don’t worry. It return isn’t too far away.
