Girl Scout Cookie Championship Season 1 episode 1: Choco Mania

Even if you ate your fill of chocolate this week, Girl Scout Cookie Championship is whipping up some amazing chocolate cakes with those Girl Scout Cookies.

Girl Scout Cookie Championship is back with some creative Girl Scout Cookie creations. While many people love a glass of milk with those classic cookies, these bakers are challenged to find some different cookie pairings. Is there a savory and sweet mix that works with these tasty treats?

According to Food Network, this week’s Girl Scout Cookie Championship episode, “Choco Mania” features the following:

"Five professional bakers must create dozens of dessert treats using Girl Scout Cookies as the star ingredient and featuring an ornate chocolate decoration. Then they have to convince host Alyson Hannigan and a crowd of hungry, cookie-loving moviegoers at the Loew’s Jersey Theatre to vote for their treats. Three bakers move on to create a two-tiered chocolate cake using Girl Scout Cookies as the star ingredient and incorporating a savory element, so Earl Grey tea meets Caramel deLites, goat cheese meets Samoas and red-hot chiles meet Girl Scout S’mores! Judges Nacho Aguirre, Carla Hall and Katie Lee decide which chocolatey creation uses Girl Scout Cookies the best and which baker deserves to go home with a dream outdoor vacation and a year’s supply of Girl Scout Cookies."

This first challenge is more about the decoration than the baking. Since cake pops seem to be the popular first treat, it could be more of the same. Still, the added element of a ornate chocolate decoration could be a stumbling block.

Chocolate decorations can be difficult. It will be interesting to see if the bakers use melting chocolates or if they really create that chocolate decoration without any shortcuts. The delicate chocolate will need careful hand.

As for the second challenge, the combination of savory and sweet could be a fun one. While chiles and chocolate are an easy combination, the goat cheese and samoas might be difficult. One ingredient cannot over power the other.

Also, the Earl Grey tea flavor is equally difficult. The delicate tea flavor can easily be overpowered. The bakers will have to have a deft hand.
