The new season of Spring Baking Championship is looking to be a tasty one. What blooming deliciousness will the Food Network bakers make this week?

Ready for another episode of Spring Baking Championship? While the flowers might be preparing to bloom, the treats on this Food Network show are all coming up roses. Which baker will find a way to tempt the judges with their stunning creations?

According to the Food Network, this week’s Spring Baking Championship episode, “Blooming Delicious” features the following:

"Spring abounds with gardens and flowers, so for this pre-heat, the nine bakers must create cupcake flower arrangements and amp up the flower power with flower essences. In the main heat, the competitors are challenged to make and decorate mirror-glazed gazing balls and plate them in edible gardens."

Looking at the pre-heat challenge, the bakers will need to focus on the flavors. While each baker should be able to create stunning flower designs, the use of flower essences will be tricky. No one wants to eat a cupcake that tastes like potpourri.

Flower essence in a dessert can be quite lovely. The key is to find balance and to use the flavor cautiously. Hopefully these bakers have used these ingredients and feel confident in the challenge.

In the main heat, a mirror glaze can be quite difficult. While visually stunning, the “balls” need to be carefully crafted. Even the smallest blemish will be visual.

Additionally, the idea of a sphere shape is difficult. It will be interesting to see if there is required type of dessert for this challenge. Sphere cakes can have uncooked centers. Frozen desserts can melt. The bakers need to choose wisely.

Lastly, the bakers need to create an edible garden. It will be interesting to see the bakers’ approach to that aspect. While succulent gardens have been done on previous challenges, it could reappear again. Also, the bakers could go more abstract than literal. Still, this challenge might be more about the visual than the taste.
