Top Chef All Stars LA premiere preview: “It’s Like They Never Left!”
These celebrity chefs are looking for some Top Chef redemption and Top Chef All Stars LA is here to deliver. Which chef will be the first to pack your knives, again?
The fan favorite, Top Chef, is back with Top Chef All Stars LA. While many of the returning chefs have earned James Beard Award nominations, run successful restaurants and have other accolades, one thing is still missing, the Top Chef title. Which of the 15 returning cheftestants will join that elite group?
According to Bravo, the Top Chef All Stars LA premiere, “It’s Like They Never Left” features the following:
"A challenge at the Griffith Observatory kicks off the fierce battle, where the Chefs compare each other to see how everyone has progressed since last competing and then, the first elimination challenge brings them to the beach to cook a seafood meal."
Looking at the pictures and videos, it appears that the first episode is a team challenge. As everyone knows, a team challenge can either be favorable or an utter disaster. Given that everyone knows these chefs, the unknown factor doesn’t come into play.
Still, a team challenge is often about egos. All of these returning cheftestants have something to prove. It doesn’t matter if their restaurant is successful or they have numerous accolades, no one wants to be the first chef to hear pack your knives and go.

Looking at the returning chefs, there are many familiar faces and a few that are unexpected. Many chefs have made the celebrity chef cooking challenge circuit. Others have chosen to hone their craft in a non-television arena. In some ways, a few chefs should have stayed home. If it is the third time on Top Chef, there might be a better choice.
In the end, one chef will leave Top Chef All Stars LA on episode one. Hopefully, this culinary competition will not have a huge upset like Food Network’s Tournament of Champions?
