Turn the oven off and join the Great American Takeout again. Every order, any order can and does make a difference to the community and restaurant industry.

If you joined the movement last week, the Great American Takeout has returned, today, March 31. Whether you place an order from your favorite local restaurant, try a new spot or just order from a drive thru, those orders are a way to support not only the restaurant but also the community.

This week the movement has even more benefits. While that simple order helps the restaurant itself, other companies are joining together to help the restaurant industry.

For example, Smithfield Foods will make a $5 donation to CORE: Children of Restaurant Employees for every social media post tagged #TheGreatAmericanTakeout. Up to $50,000 will be donated to this national nonprofit who is helping “food and beverage service employees witch children facing a health crisis.”

Also, Ventura Foods will donate $5 to the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. Every #TheGreatAmericaTakeout can raise up to a $25,000 donation from Ventura Foods.

Any and every takeout order can and does make a difference. From that morning smoothie to even just grabbing an ice cream for a treat, the decision to order shows that you support everyone impacted. A thriving restaurant industry is an important part to any community.

If you need some takeout ideas, here are some simple ones to spark a conversation. Remember to take your social media shares with #TheGreatAmericanTakeout.

Jimmy Johns Bread Delivery

Instead of going to the store, Jimmy Johns will deliver you some fresh bread. Freaky Fresh® Bread On Demand brings 16” French bread directly to your door. “Jimmy John’s wants to help our neighbors across the country by making it easier to get daily necessities like freshly-baked bread,” said Darin Dugan, Chief Marketing Officer for Jimmy John’s.”

And, you don’t have to use that bread just for sandwiches. From French Toast to bread pudding, bread is always a great pantry staple.

Subway

Just because families are social distancing does not mean that they aren’t hungry. The Subway Family Takeout Special offers a free Footlong with the purchase of 2 Footlongs. Also, through 3/31, there is a $5.99 Footlong coupon.

Hooters

In appreciation for all the healthcare workers, first responders and military personnel, Hooters will offer 20% off all food takeout orders for them.

Also, all customers can use TENOFF for $10 off and free delivery on all $30+ orders via the Hooters app or online.

Lastly, for curbside or pick-up, guests can place alcohol orders. Please check with specific locations for availability.

Chilis

Craving that Chilis’ Presidente Margaritas? That fan favorite margarita is available to go at select locations. Also, beer, hard seltzer and wine to-go is available nationwide. Some wine bottles are just $10. Wonder what pairs best with those baby back ribs?

Of course, these offerings are just a few of the many, many options across the nation. From that local restaurant down the street to your favorite quick service restaurant, each and every order can and does make a difference.
