Buddy vs Duff Season 2 episode 5 preview: Aquarium Cakes

From the diner to the sea, Buddy vs Duff heads to the West Coast in this week’s episode. While the competition is fairly even, anything could happen. .

As Buddy vs Duff heads to West Coast, these aquarium cakes look they could be from the sea. Although everything on the display is edible, it will be interesting to see if these cakes live up to their real-life counterparts. Ready to take a dip?

According to the Food Network, this week’s Buddy vs Duff episode, “Aquarium Cakes,” features the following:

"The competition jumps to the West Coast, where the Aquarium of the Pacific is celebrating a special anniversary. TV star and aquarium icon Isabella Gomez challenges Buddy Valastro and Duff Goldman to create cakes that transport viewers to an underwater world."

Looking at the previews, it seems that Buddy has gone back to bigger is better in this episode. In the past couple of episodes, his cakes have scaled down a little. Now it seems that he ready for a whale of a cake, literally.

Duff has surged back to the lead after last week’s Waitress win. Throughout the season, Duff has really focused on the details. From the realistic food to the horse’s expression. Those details tend to set him apart.

It will be interesting to see the required task for this week’s challenge. While the cakes will be aquatic, the task seems to be a big factor in the judges’ scores. Both Buddy and Duff need to take that task into account.

While it is nice for the competition to head to the West Coast, it may not be a game changer. It doesn’t matter the location, these cakes need to impress.
