After last week’s family affair, Top Chef All Stars LA looks to create a flavor symphony. Will these dishes find the right balance or will everyone be out of tune?

When a dish hits all the notes, it can be the perfect bite. In this Top Chef All Stars LA episode, the chefs learn that counterbalance is not as simple as it seems. Can the perfect pair rise to the occasion?

According to Bravo, this Top Chef All Stars LA episode, “Get Your Phil” features the following:

"Padma gets a real rise out of the chefs when she tasks them to make a Quickfire dish without any All-Purpose flour. Instead chefs must work with alternative flours from Blue Corn and Buckwheat to Coconut and Hazelnut. James Beard Award-Winning Chef Chris Bianco serves as the guest judge for the Quickfire Challenge. Then, the chefs are whisked off to the famous Walt Disney Concert Hall to meet legendary conductor Gustavo Dudamel who is about to celebrate the LA Philharmonic’s 100th anniversary. The Maestro inspires the chefs to treat their flavor profiles like musical instruments, each providing a counterbalance to the other. For the Elimination Challenge, the chefs serve Dudamel and members of the LA Philharmonic at award-winning Otium restaurant along with Padma, Tom, Gail and Guest Judge, Bocuse d’Or finalist Timothy Hollingsworth."

For the Quickfire Challenge, using an alternative flour should not be too difficult for these chefs. While baking might not be a savory chef’s favorite task, everyone one of these talented chefs should be able to bake a tasty treat.

Based on a preview clip, it seems that this week’s elimination challenge could be a pair/double elimination. While it seems that the chefs wanted to team with their allies, this idea might be good or bad.

In the last episode, it seems that the tensions are starting to build in the competition. While Brian’s little black book is maybe not the best choice, his frenzied behavior could cause his partner issues. Everyone is wondering, is this week’s episode finally Brian’s time to head to Last Chance Kitchen?

So far, a few chefs have risen to the top. Melissa and Gregory have had multiple top finishes. Bryan and Kevin often are praised. Could these chefs soon separate themselves from the pack?

With this Top Chef All Stars LA episode ready to take the stage, will all the dishes hit the right notes or has someone played too far out of tune?
