DoorDash adds pick-up feature to help with restaurant takeout orders
Recently, restaurant takeout orders have surged. DoorDash is responding to guests needs and its pick-up feature makes takeout even easier.
DoorDash understands that sometimes the idea of cooking dinner is daunting. In a recent survey, the company found that restaurant takeout orders have increased by 56% during the current climate. With more people looking to takeout as a reason to skip cooking (again), the process needs to be easier.
Even as restrictions ease, people are still determining their comfort levels. While some people are fine with home delivery, others prefer takeout. And, in some cases, people want to minimize their waiting for pickup.
In response to consumers’ findings and restaurant response, DoorDash has created a process to make the pickup feature more efficient. From being more cost effective to personal comfort levels, the pickup feature saw an increase in orders. Now, that pickup option is more widely available.
For many people ordering from their local restaurant wasn’t just avoiding another night in the kitchen. In some ways, that dinner was an order of support for a favorite local restaurant. As the restaurant industry struggles to survive, every order counts.
Additionally, those special restaurants dinners have offered a sense of normal in an otherwise chaotic world. Whether it is a craving for your favorite Taco Tuesday tacos or a bowl of ramen that you can never correctly recreate at home, those favorite restaurant meals can make any day a little brighter.
Although some people are quite content to place an order for delivery, other people would prefer to head to their local haunt and pick it up. As DoorDash found, some parents prefer to volunteer to go and grab dinner. Since many people were all home together, those few moments outside of the house could seem like a needed vacation.
No matter the reasons why restaurant takeout continues to be a popular choice, it is important to continue to support favorite local restaurants. Even as the tables start to be filled again, every order matters. DoorDash isn’t going anywhere and neither should your Friday night pizza order.
Have you made more restaurant takeout orders in the past couple of months?
