Top Chef All Stars LA Season 17 episode 13 preview: Parma
Who will be the big cheese? Top Chef All Stars LA sets the finale three.
While Tuscany is a beautiful, luxurious backdrop to Top Chef All Stars LA, one chef will feel slightly cheated that the end of this episode. With only three spots in the finale, which chef will leave Parma wanting another chance at redemption?
According to Bravo, this Top Chef All Stars LA episode, “Parma,” features the following:
"In the penultimate episode in the All Stars competition, the chefs are treated to a culinary dream trip to Parma, the legendary home of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and Prosciutto di Parma ham. After getting a behind the scenes tour of some traditional multi-generational factories of these exclusive products, the chefs must feature these ingredients in two courses and serve their dishes to a table of 16 Michelin stars. Pasta master, Chef Evan Funke, sits in as the guest judge along with Tom, Padma, Gail and a bevy of celebrated Italian super-star chefs. One chef is eliminated as only the top three will move on to the finale."
Looking at the ingredients for this challenge, the chefs need to think both creatively and cautiously. With such iconic ingredients being the focus, those flavors need to come through in every bite. It might not be the time to introduce a fusion element to these classic ingredients.
Additionally, there is a lot of pressure on this pre-finale meal. While each chef wants to present his themed finale to the judges, the parameters of the challenge still applies. It might not be a Quickfire, but the chefs do not have compete creativity.
Predicting the final three is quite difficult. While Bryan Voltaggio has made two finales, he has come up just short of the Top Chef title. Everyone is thinking that he has a good chance to make a third finale, but nothing is guaranteed in Top Chef.
Stephanie seems to be a little bit of an underdog. Still, she has pulled out some amazing dishes throughout the season. For the best story-line, Stephanie in the finale would be a food one.
As for Melissa and Kevin, both chefs would be a great the finale. Melissa has had some amazing wins throughout the season. Kevin returned from Last Chance Kitchen.
In the end, any of these four chefs would create an amazing finale meal. Still, one will have to pack their knives and go. Who do you think it will be?
