Nick Viall and ORBIT gum know fresh breath and a great smile are a dating must have.

For Nick Viall, his The Bachelor dating moments were broadcast for everyone to see. Even though on-screen dating might have the best lighting, picture perfect locales and seemingly romantic moments, real life might be a little different. Still, one aspect to dating, even going on a date with your spouse is always important, fresh breath.

Even if you don’t want to admit it. Everyone has had that awkward moment. Maybe it is coffee breath. It could be the extra garlic on the pizza. No matter the reason, bad breath is a dating don’t.

Having a piece of gum, like ORBIT gum, in your purse or in your pocket is always a great idea. Even if you aren’t trying to ditch questionable breath, popping a piece of gum can offer a break in the conversation. Just don’t smack your gum loudly while chewing, that look is not attractive on anyone.

Recently, Nick Viall partnered with ORBIT gum to share some dating tips. While dating on The Bachelor is very different than dating in real life, Nick has definitely learned a few tricks. Although he warns that “hot tubs do not equal romance,” fresh breath could put anyone on the path to earn a rose for another date.

Right now, many people are going on virtual dates. That screen to screen connection can be just as difficult as an in person date. Since Nick has been through his fair share of dates, he shared three simple, achievable tips that can help people gain some dating confidence.

Nick said, “the new norm isn’t normal. Virtual dates and socially distant walks are replacing bars. Be comfortable with changing up your approach.” No matter the venue, people can get to know each others.

Also, Nick reminds everyone, fresh breath matters. He said, “remember that people can still smell bad breath from 6 feet away.” Thinking about that concept, it is a little concerning. It sounds like everyone should always have some ORBIT on hand to keep breath fresh.

No matter the location or event, Nick got to the heart of the situation. He said, “dating is about learning about people. Be willing to share details to your answers. One-word answers don’t tell much. Ask questions, too.”

Whether it is virtual date, a walk or sitting across a table from each other, the conversation matters. If you cannot talk to each other, does anything else really matter? Sure, the food at dinner might be tasty but the conversation is the real star of any date.

Sometimes, people chose certain foods for a specific reason. While some foods, like garlic, might be aphrodisiacs, many of those foods can cause bad breath. Nick mentioned that the is obsessed with garlic and even is a huge fan of onions. Still, he knows that those foods can “affect breath in a negative way.” No one wants to start a date on the wrong foot. After all, you can never recreate a first impression.

Nick says that he “always (carries) five to six pieces of ORBIT gum so I’m prepared when fresh breath and a clean smile is most important.” Even now with people wearing masks, bad breath needs to be avoided. He said, “trust me, having fresh breath makes for a much more pleasant experience for your date – AND yourself.”

While fresh breath is important at the start of a date, it is important throughout the date too. At the beginning of a relationship, those embarrassing moments can be totally cringeworthy. While everyone can relate, Nick has some honest advice about those less than perfect moments.

“I feel like we’ve all had dates where we run into embarrassing moments or things don’t go as smoothly as we had hoped. I’ve almost never NOT had spinach stuck in my teeth! As for it happening to a date, I believe there is nothing wrong with saying something, and that it can build a level of trust by being honest about it. There’s nothing wrong with pointing it out in a nice way, and I appreciate people pointing it out to me! Awkward situations like these are just another reason why I choose to chew ORBIT gum on dates as it helps me feel a bit more confident that I have a clean smile and fresh breath at all times.”

Even if you have that Joe Jonas spinach in your teeth moment, you can recover from it. Nick said that “vulnerability is becoming more and more sexy.” While he might have had a few “cringeworthy” moments on the Bachelor, his memories might have taken a little better spin. If distance makes the heart grow fonder, maybe time gives cringeworthy moments a rose-colored hue.

Still, first impressions matter. From fresh breath to good manners, it all matters.

Nick said, “helping people clean up dirty dating habits and learn from dating experiences is exactly why I partnered with ORBIT! Bad experiences or habits – like ghosting, for example – can definitely make a person pause and rethink going on another date with someone.”

Still, sometimes people deserve a second chance, Nick thinks that second chances, within reason, are worth it. “I’m a firm believer at giving people a second chance, especially if there was something you liked about them before the date.”

In the end, whether you are on a date, meeting someone or even spending some time with your significant other, make sure that you have some fresh breath. Pop a piece of ORBIT gum and keep that mouth clean.
