Panda Express transforms a favorite into an Orange Chicken Bacon Biscuit Sandwich.

While the Panda Express Orange Chicken is always a favorite, this Orange Chicken Bacon Biscuit Sandwich recipe brings a new flavor experience to the table. This relatively simple recipe could become a new family favorite. Is your restaurant takeout ready for a makeover?

Often when families order Panda Express, they tend to order a little extra food. It always seems that there are a few extra pieces of orange chicken leftover even though your stomach is full.

Since food waste is never a good idea, those leftovers need to be used. Although many people enjoying eating a leftover meal, a simple transformation of that food can make the second meal even more enjoyable.

Recently, Panda Express shared this Orange Chicken Bacon Biscuit Sandwich recipe. It takes that classic orange chicken and transforms it into a totally new meal. Even though the recipe has several steps, it is really easy to make. It isn’t like you are making biscuits from scratch (although you could).

Here’s how to make the Panda Express Orange Chicken Bacon Biscuit Sandwich recipe.

Bacon:

 Equipment: half sheet pan, parchment paper, small bowl

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices double cut thick bacon
  •  1 ½ tablespoons brown sugar
  •  1 ½ teaspoons red chili flakes (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne powder  (optional)

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Prepare the bacon spice; place the brown sugar in a     small bowl, and if you want to spice it up, add the red chili flakes and cayenne powder. Set aside.
  3. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  4. Arrange bacon slices in a single layer.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the bacon spice on the sliced bacon.
  6. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes.

Pickled Cucumbers

Equipment: cutting board, knife, small bowl

Ingredients:

  • ¼ lb. (1 – 2 each) Persian cucumbers,  sliced 1/8” thick
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

Method:

  1. Place sliced cucumbers into a small bowl.
  2. Using your hands, gently massage sugar and salt into the cucumbers.
  3. Toss with rice vinegar. Set aside.

Biscuits

Equipment: half sheet pan, parchment paper, small bowl, pastry brush

Ingredients:

  • 1 canned refrigerated biscuits (8 servings)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ½ teaspoon black and white sesame seeds  (optional)

Method:

  1. Place biscuits onto a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
  2. Brush the tops of biscuits with milk.
  3. Sprinkle with black and white sesame seeds.
  4. Bake biscuits as directed (13 – 16 minutes at 350F) until golden brown.

Assembly

Equipment: cutting board, half sheet pan, parchment paper

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices of cheddar cheese
  • Panda’s Original Orange Chicken

Method:

  1. Slice the biscuits in half horizontally (or use your hands to gently tear them in half), leaving the bottoms on the sheet pan. Set aside the tops.
  2. Place 5 – 6 slices of pickled cucumbers on the bottom of the biscuit.
  3. Place 1 slice of bacon on top by breaking it in half.
  4. Place orange chicken on top. 5. Lay a slice of cheese over the orange chicken.
  5. Place in the oven for 1 – 2 minutes to melt the cheese.
  6. Place the biscuit tops on the melted cheese and enjoy!

Looking at this recipe, it is relatively easy. Plus, there are a few shortcuts, too. For example, you can use Bread and Butter pickles instead of making your own pickles.

Also, you can use pre-cooked bacon, too. Although, freshly made bacon is tastier.

Lastly, you can use biscuits from the store. You might not get that baking biscuit aroma, but some local bakeries or grocery stores have some tasty biscuits.

Overall, this idea is a great second day or leftovers dish. If your family is always looking for a new way to use leftovers, this recipe is a great one. It goes to show, a little cooking creativity goes a long way.
