Little Caesars is now the Official Pizza of the NHL thanks to a new sponsorship deal.

Little Caesars is now the Official Pizza of the NHL, thanks to a new sponsorship agreement that runs until the end of the 2020-21 season.

The deal, which started immediately with the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers and Stanley Cup Playoffs, includes a corner-ice advertisement for all games during that span.

“Little Caesars is an enormous global restaurant chain with deep ties to our sport, both at the Club level with the Detroit Red Wings as well as through its long-standing youth hockey involvement in Michigan,” Kyle McMann, NHL Senior Vice President, North American Business Development & Global Partnerships, said in a press release.

“We will work to promote Little Caesars new delivery service and create new offerings that will entice fans to make Little Caesars a staple of their game night ritual for our first summer Stanley Cup Playoffs.” McMann continued.

This deal isn’t really that much of a surprise, as the founders of Little Caesars, Mike and Marian Illitch, owned the Detroit Red Wings from 1982 until Mike’s death in 2017, and the team is still owned by the Illitch family. The Red Wings’ heyday of the 1990s-2000s were included in this span, as five Stanley Cups came to Hockeytown in six Stanley Cup Final appearances. And furthermore, the Red Wings moved into Little Caesars Arena in 2017, where they share the arena with the NBA’s Detroit Pistons.

“The Little Caesars brand has had a deep relationship with the incredible sport of hockey for a long time, and we’re thrilled to take our love of the game to the next level,” Little Caesars President and  CEO Dave Scrivano said in a release. “This season, fans will be cheering their teams on from home, and what better way to watch the games than with a delicious pizza that can now be delivered right to your door.”

With the 24-team expanded playoffs, which kicked off Saturday morning in two bubbles in Toronto, Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta, respectively, the easy convenience of a hot and ready pizza and Crazy Bread can be easily picked up during an intermission, and the cheap cost means that it’s okay if your hockey dogs steal a bit here or there.

Little Caesars also dived further into the sports world with their first Super Bowl commercial in February.
