National Rum Day is for rum lovers and it’s the best day of the summer.

Is your cocktail glass ready for National Rum Day on Sunday, August 16, 2020?  Don Papa is here to celebrate with us.

Don Papa rum is handcrafted on the ethereal island of Negros, Philippines. This lush green island is also known as Sugarlandia where Don Papa mills sugar cane to produce sweet, rich molasses beginning  the process of making their signature rum.  Aged up to seven years in American Oak barrels the rum is then blended and packaged in its distinctive corked bottle with The Don’s picture on the front. ( Don Papa is named after Papa Isio, a leader of the Philippine Revolution during the 1890s.) The first thing you’ll notice about this rum is the artistic packaging which earned a double gold medal for packaging design at the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and product innovation of the year at the 2013 Paris Cocktail Spirits Show.

Don Papa Rum  is rich with flavors of vanilla, honey and candied fruits and has a long, smooth finish. Filipino sugar cane is sweeter than most other sugar canes, so you will find plenty of sweetness in this rum.  The first whiff of Don Papa and you’ll be carried away to the tropics, the land of coconuts and tropical fruits.

Along with  their flagship rum  aged up to 7 years; Don Papa  offers a 10 year old rum which is a darker bold rum with notes of cacao, dried fruits and a hint of oak; Rare Cask  with notes of cacao, oak,  hints of citrus and a long finish of wild mint and Sherry Cask with a nutty nose and a fruity taste and a long smooth finish; Masskarra infused with calamansi with distinctive citrus notes, honey with a touch of heat and spice; Sevillana bursting with fragrant orange and vanilla flavors, nutty aroma and silky mouthfeel. These special rums are available in the UK. The 7 year aged rum is available in the U.S.

Enjoy Don Papa Rum neat, on the rocks, or over one jumbo cube of ice that will chill the rum, but not dilute it as quickly as several small cubes of ice.
