Lillet has been famous as an aperitif since it’s creation in France in 1872. It is a French wine-based aperitif from Podensac. Blended of 85% Bordeaux region wines (Semillon for the Blanc and for the Rosé, Merlot for the Rouge) and 15% macerated liqueurs, mostly citrus liqueurs (peels of sweet oranges from Spain and Morocco and peels of bitter green oranges from Haiti). The mix is blended in oak vats.
Lillet Blanc is perhaps the best known with aromas of candied oranges, honey, pine resin and exotic fruits. Another fan favorite is Rosé. Light aromas of berries, orange blossom and grapefruit.
