This week’s Halloween Baking Championship episode offers a vampire buffet.

What do you serve at a vampire’s feast? Halloween Baking Championship looks to answer that tasty and creepy question, but will you want to take a bite. Is that wine or something else served in that goblet?

According to the Food Network, the Halloween Baking Championship episode, “Bloody Good Smorgasbord” features the following:

"Descending into a spooky cellar is enough to make any baker’s blood run cold, and blood is always on the menu for a vampire party. Host Carla Hall asks the eight remaining bakers to team up and create desserts for a vampire buffet to satisfy the bloodsuckers’ appetites as well as Carla and the other judges, Stephanie Boswell and Zac Young."

While it seems unlikely that the Food Network will have the bakers use blood sausage in these desserts, there will likely be ooze, red splatter and other “drizzle” on these desserts. It will be interesting to see how the bakers balance the vampire buffet theme, visually intriguing design and tasty treats.

In last week’s episode, the bakers’ croquembouche seemed to be more scary due to lack of execution versus interpretation of the theme. Even with the flavor twists and added elements, these bakers need to embrace the challenge and go bigger.

Since last week’s episode didn’t include the dagger search, it will be interesting to see if this week’s episode will have their twist. Given the vampire theme, it could be likely that daggers would be hidden around the kitchen.

Overall, a front runner hasn’t emerged. While Holly has done well and Renee had one good week, these bakers need to be more consistent. As the numbers get whittled away, someone needs to rise to the top.

Which baker will leave the depths of the cellar and be thrown out into the sun? Here’s how to wathc this week’s Halloween Baking Championship episode.
