National Vodka Day – Nutty Pear Cocktail

HEREFORD, ENGLAND - AUGUST 04: Staff at Chase Distillery bottle and pack recently produced vodka at Chase Distillery on August 4, 2010 near Hereford, England. Unlike other vodka producers in the UK, Chase Distillery grows, mashes and distills its own potatoes on the founder's 400 acre family farm in the heart of the English countryside before bottling the spirit on site. Having just won the title of 'World's Best Vodka' at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition in July, the owners of the only premium potato-based vodka distillery in the UK currently producing just a 1000 bottles per week, plans to take on much larger, mass-produced luxury brands in the US market which could multiply its turnover. According to Chase, it is the company's traditional 'artisan distilling process that is the responsible for the spirit's prize-winning flavour and will help Chase Vodka standout from its established competitors, most of which use wheat or rye rather than potatoes. As well as Chase Vodka, Chase Distillery also produces gin, a range of fruit liqueurs and a vodka made from organic cider apples. (Photo by Matt Cardy/Getty Images)

What are you sipping for National Vodka Day?

National Vodka Day – time to celebrate our favorite spirit on October 4, 2020! There are so many delightful varieties of vodka available today and this special day gives us an excuse to taste lots of them.

Have you tried Chase Vodka – a single estate vodka made in Herefordshire, England?  The distillery is a family business run by its founder, William Chase. The potatoes used to make their vodka are grown on their 400 acre family farm in the heart of the English countryside. By growing their own potatoes, they can ensure quality and  it is a sustainable practice because the potatoes do not have to be trucked in for production. The result is a smooth and elegant vodka. You will recognize the Chase bottle – it’s the one with the cute “Union Jack – British flag” bow tie dressing up the top of the bottle.

In addition to their traditional vodka, Chase offers Aged Marmalade Vodka (Seville orange), English Rhubarb and Oak Smoked Vodka (makes a tasty Bloody Mary!). (Traditional is available in the US and UK, some of their flavored vodkas may only be found in the UK.) They distill gin and fruit liqueurs as well.

With all of the disruption in our lives these days, we’d love to sip a relaxing cocktail at home – especially on National Vodka Day –  but who has the time? Proof Cocktail Syrups takes care of that for you! Simply add Proof syrup to your favorite liquor, add ice and shake and you’ve got your cocktail – well deserved! Fall is the perfect time to combine warm, spicy flavors. Pecan is one of those favorite fall flavors. If you haven’t tried Proof Pecan Syrup in your cocktails, you are in for a treat!

This tasty Cocktail Syrup is made by taking fresh, oven-roasted Georgia pecans and infusing them into aromatic bitters. We then combine that with our oleo saccharum blend.
