Don Papa Rum mixes up Halloween cocktails that are spooky, scary and sumptuous.

After carving the pumpkins, making the children’s costumes and chaperoning the little ones around the neighborhood to collect candy, “Mummy” deserves a Don Papa Rum Halloween cocktail!  These hard working parents need BOOS! So many fun flavors to play with – sweet candy, spicy pumpkin, caramel apple. Rum is the perfect liquor to combine with Halloween flavors.

Let’s start the fun with freezing apple cider in jumbo ice cube trays. Add the cider ice cubes to your Halloween cocktail. They won’t dilute your drink as they melt. Ice cubes in the shape of a skull are just the bit of spooky fun your cocktail needs on Halloween.

Candy makes fun cocktail stirrers. Rock candy sticks (black and orange) for fruity cocktails and KIT KAT bars – special limited edition “Witches Brews Bars” are spooky green and just the right size to serve with a chocolate martini or should I say “Spooktini”?

Garnish your cocktail with a Lindt Ghost Truffle on a cocktail skewer – Ghost truffles feature a milk chocolate shell with a smooth melting white chocolate center.

Halloween cocktails are bloody colorful – try a Midnight Mijoto -the deep red purple color is created with blackberry spreadable fruit.

Since we are drinking rum on Halloween from the Philippines, we should know that as a predominantly Catholic nation, their Halloween celebration is centered around tradition and faith.  Their celebration begins on October 31 and continues to include All Saints’ Day on November 1 and All Souls Day on November 2. On All Saints Day families gather in the cemeteries where their loved ones are buried. Although these traditions may sound solemn, the Filipino families set up tents in the cemetery, enjoy lots of food, drink and live music, making it a festive atmosphere.
