Braum’s ice cream holiday flavors now on sale
If you enjoy Braum’s ice cream, their special holiday flavors are now on sale.
If you like Braum’s ice cream, then you’re in luck – their special limited-time holiday flavors are back in stores, as they announced on their Twitter recently.
That means that the special flavors of Eggnog, Gingerbread, Hot Chocolate, Peppermint and Pumpkin are back.
Gingerbread is a ringer for Little Debbie gingerbread cookies and includes cookie chunks, while Hot Chocolate tastes like Swiss Miss and includes mini marshmallows. Peppermint has candy cane pieces swirled throughout, which while tasty, can be painful when encountered unexpectedly.
Around our house, though we aren’t huge ice cream people most of the year, the Gingerbread and Eggnog flavors are some of the classic holiday foods, along with Canada Dry’s special cranberry and blackberry ginger ale.
For those unfamiliar, Braum’s is a regional burger and shake restaurant similar to Whataburger, based in the Oklahoma City suburb of Tuttle, and they operate around 300 stores throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri.
In many locations there is also a small grocery section, offering not just gallon-sized ice cream containers and (delicious) bakery items like cookies, banana bread and brownies, but also general canned food and fresh vegetables.
Their limited-time BBQ burgers use Oklahoma favorite Head Country barbecue sauce, and much of their meat and dairy products come from the company-owned farm in Tuttle.
At least throughout eastern Oklahoma where I’m from, the main Braum’s demographics are probably retired people and travelers, though locations also generally have the sort of relaxed, pleasant atmosphere that the end-of-season youth soccer team parties often take place there.
For many teenagers, the pink, purple, navy blue and hunter green colors are the uniform of their first job.
There are 10 different sundae options, from the traditional Hot Fudge to Strawberry Shortcake and Pecan Caramel Cinnamon Crumb Cake, and a variety of mixes and shakes as well (all flavors of Braum’s ice cream can be made into shakes).
The burgers and chicken sandwiches are also worth trying, the thick-cut crinkle-cut fries offering a hearty side dish that goes well with ketchup, while the Bag of Burgers option works well for budget-minded families, with five burgers (with or without an array of vegetables) in a sack for around a dollar each. Of their main sandwich offerings, the Jalapeno Pepper Jack burger is my favorite, and most chicken sandwiches can be ordered either crispy or grilled.
If you’re ever in Oklahoma, be sure to check out Braum’s ice cream and burgers to get a good understanding of the local fast food culture.
