In this Holiday Baking Championship episode, the sweet treats start the day.

As home bakers prepare their feasts, Holiday Baking Championship shows that it is ok to eat dessert first. After tackling holiday pies last week, the bakers are turning to breakfast to kick off this week’s challenge. But, will everyone be friends when the desserts are served?

According to the Food Network, this week’s Holiday Baking Championship episode, “Hosting the Holidays,” features the following:

"Host Jesse Palmer challenges the eight remaining bakers to turn breakfast items, like French toast, into amazing Thanksgiving breakfast desserts. Then, the competitors take common Friendsgiving potluck dishes, such as glazed carrots, and use them in a dessert to impress judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Carla Hall. Plus, since Friendsgiving is all about community, they’re doing it in teams."

For the pre-heat, these dessert ideas could be quite helpful for home cooks. During the holidays, there can be extra food. Since food waste is never a good idea, it is important have various recipes to use leftovers. Maybe these desserts could inspire people at home.

Looking at the main heat, the Friendsgiving potluck might not be quite as timely. Although a virtual Friendsgiving is a great idea, people might not be gathering around the same, in-person table.

Thinking about this main heat challenge, the idea of non-traditional dessert ingredients could be quite interesting. Although no one would want to put Brussel sprouts in a cake, potatoes and carrots can easily transform into sweet treats.

While it is still early in the Holiday Baking Championship season, there doesn’t seem to be an emerging front runner. One minute a few bakers seem to be impressing the judges only to fall to the bottom of the naughty list. Even previous challenge winners have fallen far down the list.
