Here’s how to make The Matt-arita for the new season of The Bachelor featuring Matt James.

The Matt-arita

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz PATRÓN Silver
  • .75 oz Fresh lime juice
  • .5 oz Agave syrup (equal parts agave nectar : water)
  • 1 barspoon chili oil
  • Pinch salt
  • Lime wedge, for garnish

Method:

  • Combine all ingredients (except garnish) in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously with ice. Strain onto fresh ice in a rocks glass and garnish with the lime wedge.

The interesting part of this cocktail is the chili oil. While spicy margaritas often rely on muddled jalapenos or infused syrups, the chili oil adds a different layer of flavor.

First, since the chili oil offers a consistent flavor each and every time. By leveling the spicy playing field, everyone can have the same flavor experience. There is no worry about burning the palate on the first sip.

Second, the chili oil offers a luscious texture to the cocktail. And, it could inspire a margarita pairing with some sesame noodles or a robust pho.

Let the flames of love burn brightly on The Bachelor but let the hit slowly smolder with The Matt-arita. Just like a story-book love affair, a little heat brings you back for more.
