Give a classic whipped cream recipe a flavorful twist.

While that classic whipped cream recipe is always a tasty treat, a few flavorful twists and upgrades can make it a wow factor. From the saving a dessert to a topping for hot cocoa, there is always room for more whipped cream.

For many people, homemade whipped cream is one of the easiest recipes to master. While you should be careful not to over beat that heavy whipping cream, it is quite simple to make. Although you might not want to whip that cream and sugar by hand, a little help from a stand mixer or a hand mixer makes quick work.

And, if you love kitchen gadgets, you could have you own whipped cream dispenser. While owning an iSi Cream Profi Whip doesn’t instantly turn you into a barista or a pastry chef, it is a fun kitchen gadget.

With all the tools at the ready, there are a few simple twists that can turn a classic whipped cream recipe into a bold, flavorful experience.

For example, during a recent Starbucks Rewards Visa Card Experiences from Chase, Carla Hall demonstrated her Peppermint Whipped Cream. With just two ingredients, this whipped cream is perfect for a hot chocolate, or even a mocha.

Here’s how to make Carla Hall’s Peppermint Whipped Cream.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 ⁄4 cup peppermint sticks, broken into pieces, or hard candies

Directions

  • Place the peppermint sticks into a spice grinder or food processor and pulse several times until they are coarse, but not yet finely ground.
  • Remove half the ground peppermint candy and set aside, then process the remaining candy until finely ground. Remove and set aside.
  • Place heavy cream in a medium-size mixing bowl. Using a whisk or hand-held mixer, beat until soft peaks form.
  • Fold in the finely ground peppermint candy, then spoon a tablespoon or two on top of each cup of hot cocoa.
  • Garnish with the coarsely ground peppermint candy.

Even the person who can’t boil water could master this simple recipe. More importantly, this whipped cream shows that the garnishes on a beverage or a dessert really do matter.

While this whipped cream is used on a hot chocolate, it would be delightful on a French Silk Pie or even a simple chocolate cake.

For a different twist on a whipped cream recipe, consider a spiked whipped cream. Southern Comfort shared its recipe for an Anything Spice Spiced Whipped Cream. Here’s how to make it.

Anything Spice Spiked Whipped Cream

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 4 tsp powdered sugar (add more to sweeten to your desire)
  • 6 tbsp Southern Comfort Original (or, Southern Comfort Black for a whiskey-forward flavor or Southern Comfort 100 proof for a bolder taste)

Instructions

  • Whisk heavy cream and sugar together in a large bowl until fully whipped and creamy
  • Whisk in whiskey gently
  • Cover, refrigerate and serve cold

This whipped cream recipe is delicious on an apple pie, bread pudding or even on some pancakes for brunch. The options are many. Just make sure that you label the whipped cream so that the kids do not eat it.

Basically, a whipped cream recipe can be adapted to a variety of flavors. From a little chocolate powder to some freeze dried strawberries, it is one of the recipes that easily melds with a variety of flavors. It is the perfect treat to let your creativity go wild.
