Bagels, why do we love them? They are basically bread with a hole in the middle, right? OH NO! Lovers of this iconic roll are very specific about how their bagels are made and what they schmear on them, so much so that there is a day that specifically recognizes their importance – National Bagel Day, January 15, 2021.
Let’s start with the dough. According to Condé Nast Traveler, over the years the Westin New York at Times Square has offered a bagel for $1,000. That’s a lot of dough! The proceeds from the sale of this bagel go to Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen which is a well known emergency food program in New York City. This super expensive bagel is spread with white truffle cream cheese and a Riesling jelly infused with goji berries and gold leaf. If that is a little more dough than you’d like to spend, then there are other options and some good deals too.
Who doesn’t love the convenience of a Dunkin’ bagel – plain, multigrain or cinnamon raisin, served up toasty with a cup of Dunkin’ coffee? According to WKRG News, their Springhill Avenue store in Mobile, Alabama will give their first 100 customers a free plain bagel on January 15. Does your local Dunkin’ offer up any deals on this special day, might want to check.
Einstein Bros Bagels is running a promotion through the end of January. According to MSN.com, you can use their app to find the nearest location and get any of their egg sandwiches for free with purchase. According to Today.com, Bruegger’s Bagels is offering a free bagel and cream cheese with purchase through their app. through the end of January.
