Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich added to Chick-Fil-A menu for limited time
The Grilled Spicy Deluxe Chicken Sandwich is a short-term guest at Chick-Fil-A.
The Grilled Spicy Deluxe Chicken Sandwich is a new limited-time addition to the Chick-Fil-A menu, though how long it will remain remains a bit of a mystery.
It will hit menus nationwide on Monday, January 25, and consists of a grilled chicken patty coated in the spicy marinade familiar to fans inside a toasted multigrain brioche bun, assisted by lettuce, tomato and Colby Jack cheese. There will also be an optional Cilantro Lime Sauce for customers, which was created especially for this sandwich.
“We know guests are looking to add more variety to their meals, especially after a year where new food experiences were limited. The Grilled Spicy Deluxe offers the spicy flavors our guests have come to know and love, now available in a grilled option,” said Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A, said in a press release.
The Grilled Spicy Deluxe was previously tested beginning October 2018 for around three months in select restaurant locations around Orlando, Florida; St Louis, Missouri, and Knoxville, Tennessee.
The new item was crafted by Chick-Fil-A Chef Angela Wadlington, a senior culinary developer.
“Our Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich got great feedback from guests in our test markets, so we knew we needed to expand the offering to Chick-fil-A® restaurants nationwide,” Wadlington is quoted on the CFA blog.
The mellowness of the Colby Jack cheese should pair nicely with the lingering-yet-not-overpowering spicy marinade, and the heartiness of the multigrain bun offers a nice contrast to the lightness of the grilled chicken, lettuce and tomato. If you enjoy the taste of cilantro, that could go nicely into the flavor mix as well.
Color is also a factor when it comes to the attractiveness of food, and you have a nice range here with the reddish-orange chicken, bright yellow of the cheese, dark green of the lettuce and traditional red from the tomato.
Suggested sides that pair well with the sandwich include the classic waffle fries, the still-relatively-new mac and cheese and the Kale Crunch Salad, and the Chocolate Fudge Brownie would make a great dessert.
Given the texture of the ingredients, this is probably not a sandwich to order for eating on the run while driving, as it could get rather slimy very quickly, though it does seem like the taste will be well worth the extra napkins needed.
Based on other menu items, the Grilled Spicy Deluxe price is probably somewhere in the range of $4.89 (Spicy Deluxe) to $5.35 (Grilled Chicken Sandwich), though a combo meal would be slightly higher.
