DoorDash, Sesame Street and Super Bowl LV are part of The Neighborhood
Super Bowl LV will feature many firsts, including the first DoorDash commercial featuring Sesame Street. Do you know who and what are in your neighborhood?
While DoorDash, the popular on-demand local logistics platform is on many people’s devices, this Super Bowl commercial is more than just an enticement to place a food order from a local restaurant. Sometimes knowing and appreciating the people and places in your neighborhood is good for everyone.
Growing up, many people remember the classic Sesame Street song with the lyric, these are the people in your neighborhood. In this new commercial, some beloved Sesame Street characters and Daveed Diggs are re-imagining that “People in Your Neighborhood” song.
Although many people have used the DoorDash platform to satisfy that food craving, the company looks to showcase that it is more than just food delivery. Regarding this particular campaign, Christopher Payne, Chief Operations Officer at DoorDash, said, “This marks the first time we’ve shifted our brand image from a food delivery logistics company to a multi-category marketplace in a meaningful way, while celebrating the local heroes that make up the fabric of our neighborhoods.”
Can you DoorDash some toilet paper and cookies to your neighborhood?
As Payne said, “What excites me about this campaign is that it tells the story of how we deliver all the best in your neighborhood in an authentic and engaging way and supports Sesame Workshop.” And in the process, celebrates “the local heroes that make up the fabric of our neighborhoods.”
While the Super Bowl LV platform is big exposure for the brand, a bigger element is part of this commercial. Starting on February 7, 2021, the brand will donate “$1 for every order up to $1 Million to Sesame Workshop.” Given the point of this commercial, the charity aspect could be a reason to choose this local logistics platform over another option.
Samantha Maltin, Sesame Workshop Chief Marketing Officer, said “Community is at the heart of all we do, and we are grateful to DoorDash for helping us further our work when children and families need us most.”
Between supporting local business to helping the Sesame Workshop many people would be more willing to place that order. Although convenience is often the reason for using this type of service, more people are looking to support brands that want to give back. Just like supporting the local business, doing more with a purchase can be a decision driver.
What do you think of this DoorDash and Sesame Street commercial for Super Bowl LV? Do you think that it will make an impact?
