Spring Baking Championship Season 7 premiere: Welcome to the farm

Spring Baking Championship Season 7 looks to bring a taste of the farm to Food Network. While Nancy Fuller might be excited to taste all the farm fresh delights, these bakers better put their best breakfast treat forward. No one wants to be the first baker eliminated on Spring Baking Championship Season 7.

According to Food Network, Spring Baking Championship Season 7 “Farm Favorites and Memorable Bakes” features the following:

"Eleven bakers begin the competition by making farm stand breakfast treats, then they try to impress the judges with a cake and dessert tribute to happy, dancing cows; a look back at seasons past and sneak peeks of spring bakes to come."

While the description is minimal, farm stand breakfast treats could go in various directions. From spring fruits to rustic baked goods, the options are many. As the first challenge, it will be interesting to see if the bakers go big or look to be subtle. It can be a gamble either way.

For the second challenge, this idea could be quite challenging for the first episode. While everyone might appreciate a happy cow, does that idea mean that each dessert must represent that cow, or it is more of a general concept?

More importantly, creating two desserts for a single challenge is difficult. As many baking competitions have shown in the past, two desserts mean having to have two perfect bites. It is always a better choice to have one great dessert than two mediocre ones.

Still, it is the first episode, and the bakers need to find their footing. While no one wants to make a mistake, this Food Network challenge is more about staying out of the bottom versus rising to the top.
