The brunch community is missing those bottomless mimosas as we are still working toward expanding capacity, but thanks to Vermont-based maple maker, Runamok Maple, and beloved spice shop, Burlap & Barrel, brunch at home just got a little tastier! The two brands teamed up to create two flavor-packed, limited-release maple syrups that are each infused with spices from the mountains of Vietnam.

The special-edition maple syrups, Royal Cinnamon Infused and Winter Harvest Star Anise Infused will be available starting on Monday, March 15 via runamokmaple.com priced at $16.95 per 250 mL bottle.

The Royal Cinnamon Infused maple syrup is flavored with cinnamon that is sourced from the mountains around the ancient city of Huế, Vietnam. Considered an intense flavor, this high-valued cinnamon is an heirloom variety and that isn’t commonly harvested or exported. All the cinnamon flavor found  adds to its many uses. Yogurt, granola, ice cream or basically  any baked goods would make for a tasty treat.

The Winter Harvest Star Anise Infused maple syrup features star anise that gets harvested during the cold and rainy months of February and March. As the winter harvest is dried over an indirect fire, the star anise is infused with smoky notes and a slightly savory flavor. The smoky qualities add flavor to a simple lemon tea or even an oatmeal. Even consider using it in Southeast Asian cuisine where anise and palm sugar are common ingredients.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with our friends at Burlap & Barrel,” said Laura Sorkin, co-founder of Runamok Maple. “We became immediate fans of Burlap & Barrel after trying their incredible Zanzibar Black Peppercorns, and since then we have enjoyed so many of their beautiful herbs and spices. They travel the world, meeting with farmers and finding varieties of spices that are rarely seen in western markets. We really enjoyed testing some of their spices with our maple syrup, and we’re super excited about where we landed with Royal Cinnamon and Winter Harvest Star Anise.”

These syrups join Runamok Maple’s growing collection that includes flavors like Coffee Infused, Ginger Root Infused, Pecan Wood-Smoked, Bourbon Barrel-Aged, and many more. OH, they even have a sparkle syrup! It’s true! A syrup that will glam your pancakes or waffles every morning.

Burlap & Barrel, NY based, is a spice shop that sustainably sources a stunning array of spices directly from farmer cooperatives and small farms all over the world.
