While Pepsi believes in living for the now, Pepsi Mango is the newest beverage trend to tempt drinkers with a tropical flavor twist. Even if you thought that cherry and Pepsi are the perfect pair, this new Pepsi permanent flavor will make you take notice. Are you ready to pop open a can?
In the past year, Pepsi has pushed the flavor conversation forward. The Pepsi portfolio saw some seasonal beverages that had everyone talking. Whether you appreciated the Pepsi Apple Pie or indulged that Pepsi Cocoa, the reality is that beverage innovation keeps people excited. Even the most ardent Pepsi fan can appreciate a new flavor in the glass.
According to Pepsi, Pepsi Mango is the “first permanent flavor launch in five years.” Available staring on March 22, the new Pepsi regular and Zero Sugar beverage will be available nationwide and will be sold in 12 oz 12 packs as well as 20 oz bottles.
What does Pepsi Mango taste like?
The new Pepsi Mango brings together the flavors of tropical mango and the classic Pepsi flavor that people love. Looking back at beverage options, Food and Wine discussed this cola and fruit combination in 2019. While that offering was a limited option, it seems that the fruit forward flavor is making a comeback.
According Todd Kaplan, Vice President of Marketing – Pepsi, “Mango is one of the most popular fruits in the world, and it serves as the perfect complement to Pepsi, creating an irresistible combination that our fans can enjoy everywhere throughout the year.”
In addition, Kaplan said, “Our consumers are always looking for new and exciting flavors, so we couldn’t be more excited to introduce them to Pepsi Mango. Our team has created a surprisingly perfect match with Pepsi Mango, combining the delicious taste of Pepsi cola with the flavor of a sweet, juicy mango,”
Thinking about this flavor, the tropical notes should pair well with Pepsi. More importantly, the flavor could be a little less sweet than other fruit beverage choices.
In addition, this Pepsi flavor opens the door for all types of flavor pairings. Similar to pairing food and beverages, this idea could go beyond the glass. From a recipe flavor enhancement to a frozen treat, the options are many for the new Pepsi beverage.
To celebrate the launch of Pepsi Mango, there is a new commercial, “Take You Dancing,” featuring Jason Derulo.
While everyone will have to take that first sip to see if they feel if Pepsi Mango will take them dancing, the reality is that beverage brands are always looking forward towards the next food trend or next must have flavor. Today, it is a tropical, juicy mango mixed into an iconic beverage. The next food trend could be spicy or maybe even a touch savory. The reality is that beverage flavors should never be flat.
