Worst Cooks in America Season 22 episode 3: Happy Campers

Let the hunt begin in the Food Network bootcamp because the Worst Cooks in America  Season 22 returning recruits will be searching for some new culinary skills. After last week’s first elimination, the pressure is on for these recruits. Is it all fun and games in Worst Cooks bootcamp?

According Food Network, Worst Cooks in America Season 22 episode 3, “Happy Campers” features the following:

"Worst Cooks puts the “camp” in boot camp as the teams of recruits play a culinary scavenger hunt and then must cook dishes using only camping equipment and utensils. Chefs Anne Burrell and Michael Symon up their game for the main dish challenge by teaching the recruits how to smoke and grill game meats. The least successful recruit on each team must compete in a blind elimination challenge that tests their grilling skills, and the recruit with the worst dish has to hit the trail and head home."

For the first challenge of using only camping equipment, the recruits might get flustered. Although many of the items are the same kitchen essentials that they know, the pressure of the situation might be a lot.

In the main dish challenge, the idea of smoking meat might be difficult to master. While the smoky notes can add another layer of flavor, the reality is that there is a delicate balance. Too much smoke and the flavor is overpowering and too little and the flavor is lost.

A similar scenario can apply to grilling. Grill marks can add flavor and texture but no one should put burnt food on the plate. The recruits who find the perfect balance will remain out of the face to face challenge.

With the head to head challenge, these moments show the recruits skills. As seen in last week’s challenge that involved breaking down a duck, these recruits are far from the worst cooks in the kitchen.

Although Joey has left bootcamp, the remaining recruits have done well and their skills have improved. Even Eric won last week’s challenge. Could he rise to the challenge again?
