One episode per season resonates beyond tasty food on the plate. Top Chef Season 18 episode 6 is more than just creating an impressive dish to present the judges. This episode is about putting their heart on the plate.

According to Bravo, Top Chef Season 18 episode 6 “Feeding the Frontlines” features the following:

"The winner of the first part of Last Chance Kitchen rejoins the competition just in time for their “second chance” Quickfire Challenge where the Chefs are tasked with redoing a past failed dish for guest judge Melissa King. Then in an emotional Elimination Challenge Chef José Andrés calls in to recruit the chefs to join World Central Kitchen, his nonprofit organization that provides meals for victims of natural disasters, tasking the chefs with delivering over 500 meals to frontline workers at 3 local hospitals in Portland. Kwame Onwuachi will serve as the All-Star guest judge this week."

Thinking of the Last Chance Kitchen competition, it will be interesting to see which chef returns. Gabe was a little bitter after the last challenge. Although he knew that the plates had an execution error, he didn’t want to go home based on someone else’s mistake. Will the second chance dish be better than the first one? The best chefs adapt and execute better the second time around.

For the Elimination Challenge, the chefs need to control their emotions. This challenge is about giving back. While many of these challenges bring the heart to the table, the reality is that the moment can sometimes overwhelm everyone.

While this Top Chef episode was filmed many months ago, the reality is that the World Central Kitchen and the work that Jose Andres does still needs people’s support. Even as people re-emerge from the year of isolation, food insecurity and essential workers need support. Just because the masks might be put in the drawer, the other issues cannot be brushed under the rug.
