While many people know Matt James from The Bachelor, but he is on a mission to do more than just bestow roses. In some ways, his has bloomed a romance with Lettuce Grow. Joining that company’s mission to grow sustainable food for everyone, that smoothie a day is a sip of something more. It is a way to do better one seed at a time.

In the past year, many people have become more aware of the food eaten, where it comes from and how it makes people feel. Whether the empty store shelves or the current health crisis changed people’s perceptions, the reality is that bag of produce is looked at differently.

Although many people took to “growing” sourdough starter, more people are learning to appreciate growing their own food. As vertical growing systems become more available and affordable, people appreciate that growing their own produce isn’t about a huge plot of land or all types of equipment. Becoming your own “farmer” can be as easy as growing herbs on your windowsill.

Lettuce Grow is on a mission to educate, encourage and innovate. In their efforts to provide clean, unprocessed food to families, the process has environmental benefits. From reduced waste to lesser emissions, the reality is that one sprout can lead to a bushel of change.

Why does Matt James support Lettuce Grow?

In a very simple phrase, James said “I am a firm believer that when we know better, we tend to do better.” While that comment should be more people’s mantra, the truth is that everyone has a choice. The options are available, but people have to choose to do it.

With Lettuce Grow, the company makes it simple. As James said, “I didn’t grow up on a farm and never studied horticulture. When I saw that someone in my shoes could plant and grow food so effortlessly with Lettuce Grow.”

James appreciates this concept because he has seen how food can impact communities. “I immediately thought about the students I work with through my nonprofit, ABC Food Tours. It’s so important for these students, who represent our next generation of thought leaders and consumers, to learn the value of clean nutrition and gain an understanding of where our food comes from – as well as how that affects our physical and mental health. The more they learn about responsibility for themselves and the planet, the more they can share this education with their family members, and together, we can preserve our planet and create healthier communities.”
