In the Crime Scene Kitchen premiere, teams of two bakers are ready to become culinary detectives. While there are many clues within the kitchen, those crumbs might not be enough to solve the dessert mystery. Who can whip up a solution before time runs out?

According to FOX, the Crime Scene Kitchen premiere, features the following:

"Can you walk into a kitchen and figure out what’s been baked solely by the ingredients and clues left behind? Hosted by Joel McHale, CRIME SCENE KITCHEN is the all-new baking competition with a unique twist. Each episode begins at the scene of the crime – a kitchen that was just used to make an amazing mouth-watering dessert that has since disappeared. The chef teams of two are challenged to scour the kitchen for clues and ingredients to figure out what was baked. Next, each team must duplicate the recipe based on their guess. To take the $100,000 prize, the competing dessert makers will need to prove they have the technical know-how, imagination and problem-solving skills needed to decode and re-create incredible desserts and cakes from across the world on the all-new “Episode 101” series premiere episode of CRIME SCENE KITCHEN airing Wednesday, May 26 (9:02-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

While this description shares part of the mystery, there is much nuance to this challenge. If anyone thinks that the recipe is going to be sitting on the counter or the ingredients will be face up in the trash can, those food fans haven’t watched enough culinary competitions.

As shared by Curtis Stone and Joel McHale, these bakers really need to think, ponder and react to the clues that are presented. Even with the certain ingredients revealed, the number of desserts that be made are plentiful.

At the same time, the clues might not be helpful. Just like any crime scene, there are a few items that can lead those culinary detectives on a wild goose chase. If an ingredient sits unused, it might not be part of the dessert.

Even though solving the mystery is part of the challenge, the bakers have to execute a delicious dessert. A visual disaster or a huge technical flaw is not going to earn praises from the judges.

The best part of this show is participating at home. Why not pause the episode after all the clues are revealed and put your best guess on the table. Although home bakers might not be turning on the oven, the culinary competition can have some interaction. You can even give yourself a reward if you are correct.
