After last week’s premiere episode, Crime Scene Kitchen episode 2 welcomes a new group of bakers to become culinary detectives. Although the first group proved savvy in their ability to solve the baking clues, these new bakers might not be quite as adept. What key ingredient is missing from the mix?

According to FOX, Crime Scene Kitchen episode 2 features the following:

"A second group of bakers are challenged to scour the kitchen for clues and ingredients to figure out what has been baked. Next, each team will need to prove they have the technical know-how, imagination and problem-solving skills needed to decode and re-create incredible desserts in the all-new “Episode 102” episode of CRIME SCENE KITCHEN airing Wednesday, June 2 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

Thinking back to the premiere episode, there seems to be a learning curve to this culinary competition. Although the answer is completely obvious, the baking teams need to be clever with their approach. Using ingredients that are not in the kitchen or creating a dessert that is too ambitious is probably not solving the baking crime.

Even if the bakers get the dessert incorrect, the truth is that execution of a good dessert is key. A cake that is falling apart or a custard that is more like a liquid will not earn the baking teams any points with the judges. A technically superior dessert is always a must.

Overall, the judging by Curtis Stone and Yolanda Gampp is stern yet not abrasive. They are not about making the baking teams feel bad about their shortcomings but they do not let poor choices slide. It will be interesting to see how the season progresses.

The most entertaining parts of the show come from host Joel McHale. His quick witted commentary keeps everyone on their toes. It is like that secret flavor that you want to enjoy again and again.
