MasterChef Legends: Chef Morimoto Monkfish Challenge preview

With all the aprons awarded, MasterChef Legends welcomes the legendary Masaharu Morimoto into the kitchen. While this season is all about raising the stakes, the home cooks are facing a difficult challenge as their introduction to the competition.

According to FOX, MasterChef Legends: Chef Morimoto – Monkfish Challenge features the following:

Legendary Michelin Star chef Morimoto sets the bar high with his monkfish demonstration, leaving the cooks desperate to impress in their first elimination challenge in the all-new “Legends: Chef Morimoto – Monkfish Challenge” episode of MASTERCHEF airing Wednesday, June 23 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

To have to cook for Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto as the first challenge is far from easy. All those signature dishes to earn an apron were a walk in the park in comparison to this challenge.

In addition, it seems probably that the majority of these home cooks have not cooked with monkfish, let alone broken down a monkfish from hanging. Mastering this skill will be a cooking technique that would impress any professional chef.

For those unfamiliar, monkfish is a very versatile fish. Some chefs use it as a substitute for lobster. While foodies watching at home might not want to butcher one on their own, the poor man’s lobster is a succulent fish that deserves prime space on the table. Maybe monkfish could be part of that Sunday supper.

As the first challenge, it will be hard to determine a potential front-runner or winner by the success or failure in this episode. Usually, the home cooks who listen, apply and execute have an edge in this culinary competition. Hopefully, everyone watches that monkfish demonstration carefully.
