During a recent round table discussion with John Li, VP of Culinary Innovation at Wendy’s and Eryn Bennett, Manager of Culinary & Product Innovation at Wendy’s, the Wendy’s culinary team shared insight on its new menu items. While many people were excited to hear about the plant-based burger innovation, the Spicy Black Bean Burger, it wasn’t the only spicy food on the table.

Available starting on July 12, the Wendy’s Ghost Pepper Ranch is going to be paired with the Spicy Nuggets. While everyone’s spice tolerance is different, the combination is on the higher level. It isn’t that the sauce itself is extreme; it is the combination of the two items which cause the fiery flavors to rise.

While Eryn Bennett, Manager of Culinary Production & Innovation at The Wendy’s Company, said, “When pairing the Spicy Nuggets with the new Ghost Pepper Ranch you hit a whole other level of spice!” It is probably the “spiciest” food combination on the Wendy’s menu.

Looking at the Wendy’s menu, the brand is never afraid to stand out in a sea of sameness. Although the company appreciates food trends, consumers wants, and other restaurant factors, the reality is that the brand’s food decisions are always based on food done right. Even though many of the decisions are forward leaning, it never deviates from that original concept.

Thinking of this new sauce, it is more than just a bold condiment for spicy chicken nuggets. It opens the door to a wealth of possibilities. Dipping fries into that Ghost Pepper Ranch is delicious.
