The sweet frights are back and Halloween Baking Championship Season 7 is upping the fear factor. In a recent Food Network announcement, the new season’s theme might make you scared to go back into the kitchen. Is that a light on in the oven or something else brewing?

During last season’s Halloween Baking Championship, the bakers had to traverse a haunted house. This season’s theme is a little different. Throughout the season, the weekly challenges will focus 1980s classic slasher movies. While the complete list of movies was not revealed, many people can foster a few good guesses.

From Friday the 13th to Nightmare on Elm Street, the catalog of 80s horror movies are many. It would be really nice to see if the Killer Klowns movie is included in the discussion. Those bubblegum cocoons would make for a fun visual.

Returning this season is John Henson as host. For the first challenge, the bakers will take a trip to Camp Devil’s Food Lake. Although one baker will not survive that deep encounter, the eventual winner will have to prove that their baking skills are a cut above the rest.

According to Food Network, the season will feature “killer cakes, creepy cupcakes, and more.” Given this season’s theme, it seems likely that the treats will be more terrifying than sweet. Just maybe this season will be a little more Halloween Horror Nights than Not So Scary Party.

While the bakers’ creations are the showstoppers of each episode, many Halloween Baking Championship fans cannot wait to see the various judges’ costumes. With Carla Hall, Stephanie Boswell and Zac Young returning to the judging panel, the possibilities are infinite. Could those costumes look just like they have stepped out of one of those 80s movies?

Halloween Baking Championship Season 7 premieres on Monday, September 13 at 9 p.m. on Food Network.
