Oscar Mayer Wienermobile gets a new side hustle
When that Oscar Mayer Wienermobile rolls down the highway, everyone looks. Granted, there are many impressive vehicles on the highway, but this one is unlike any others. Whether it makes you crave a hot dog or not, just a glimpse will bring a smile for the day.
Like many businesses over the past year, there has been expansions into side hustles. That spare bedroom has become a refuge for students who need to escape their parents. All that time as carpool mom translates to other driving opportunities. Everyone has to grab opportunities where they lie.
Over the years, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile has become more than just a memorable vehicle rolling down the road. From being transformed into an Airbnb to helping with a marriage proposal to traversing all 50 states, the reality is that that big wienie definitely gets around. Now, it could help others grab a ride, too.
Partnering with Lyft, that iconic ride is going to be picking up guests in some select cities. Available in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, some lucky Lyft users will get a supersized pick up from Oscar Mayer.
Megan Lang, Associate Marketing Director, Oscar Mayer, said, “Oscar Mayer has a legacy of elevating enjoyment from people’s plates into pop culture – from our 27- foot long Wienermobile, to the iconic Weenie Whistle, to the famed ‘Oh I wish jingle.’ With the world as our canvas and meat as our medium, we want to do all we can to spark unexpected smiles wherever we go.”
Although there is no guarantee that this special ride will be arriving at your doorstep, the special event will run from August 25 through August 27. The surprise pick up will swap a Lyft XL for a wiener rideshare.
In addition to the epic transportation, guests may receive free shirts, hot dog masks and some Weenie Whistles. After all, the Weenie Whistle is the badge of honor for seeing the Wienermobile in person.
