Is Bobby Flay leaving Food Network? While Beat Bobby Flay and his many other food television shows fill hours and hours of Food Network programming, Variety reports that the celebrated chef and the popular food television channel have parted ways. As one of the network’s most recognizable celebrity chefs, the end of the partnership could cause ripple throughout the food community.

Over the years, Flay has become one of the most popular faces of the Food Network. Looking back to 1994, those first episodes of Flay and his grill taught many people how to cook. Who didn’t crave those colorful, flavorful sauces that adorned every plate.

As those first food television shows evolved to becoming one of the original Iron Chefs to the uber popular Beat Bobby Flay, the Food Network might be able to fill more than month of just Flay-centric shows.

In the Variety report, it seems that the contract negotiations hit a breaking point. Although there might be a change, the Food Network has reported made their decision.

While Bobby Flay leaving Food Network might be a changing of the guard, it seems unlikely that Flay will ride off into the sunset. From his many successful restaurants to being an integral part of culinary community, it seems likely that he will find another outlet or even start his own production company. Gordon Ramsay has started his own media company, could Flay be next?

Today, chefs are more than just a nameless person who stands by the kitchen pass. Chefs are celebrities. Foodies seek out restaurants not just for the food on the plate but for the person who created the menu. Even if Flay isn’t standing in the kitchen, some people head to his restaurants because of the name association.

If Flay leaving Food Network does come to fruition, it will be interesting to see what show replaces Beat Bobby Flay. Is there another celebrity chef that can step into that slot? Only time will tell.
