While the wait has been long, it seems like there is an opportunity to buy McDonald’s McPlant might actually be coming to select restaurant menus. Even though many people will be celebrating the return of the McRib this November, select restaurants will be craving a plant-based food option. Where can you buy McDonald’s McPlant?

According to a recent CNBC report, on November 3, the following locations will begin offering the McPlant. They are locations in “Irving, Texas; Carrollton, Texas; Cedar Falls, Iowa; Jennings, Louisiana; Lake Charles, Louisiana; El Segundo, California; and Manhattan Beach, California.” The offer will be available for a limited time.

The collaboration between McDonald’s and Beyond Met will feature a “meat-free” burger. It will be served with American cheese and mayonnaise. But, this burger will be made on the “same grills as its beef patties.” While that statement may not impact every guest, some people may find the co-mingled cooking less than ideal.

Although this announcement may not be what many people are hungry for, it does present a positive outlook. McDonald’s never starts a project where it cannot learn from or obtain success from. The limited offering does give the assumption that a larger roll-out of the McPlant should be coming in 2022. Anyone who recalls the launch of all-day breakfast many years ago appreciates that these large scale launches take time.

Even though the U.S. has not satisfied that craving for the McPlant, the reality is that other locations across the globe. Restaurants in locations like, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, sell versions of the McPlant.

As demand continues to grow for plant-based food options, quick service restaurants need to deliver. Even though the favorite, classic menu items cannot disappear, food trends need to beside them.

At the same time, the food trends have to be more than trends for trend sake. That first bite needs to deliver a flavor that brings guests back time and again. Even if it does not replace that favorite menu item, it does fill a gap in the menu.
