Ina Garten sets a new table with Be My Guest on Food Network
While Ina Garten will forever be the Barefoot Contessa, the new series “Be My Guest” pushes food television in a whole new direction. As part of her new multi-year deal, the new Garten programming extends beyond the television screen with both streaming and podcast aspects to the show.
According to a Variety report, “Be My Guest” will have three aspects the program. There will be a 30-minute Food Network show, an hour-long version for Discovery+ and a companion podcast.
In a comment to Variety, Garten said, “I’m so looking forward to filming new shows. With “Be My Guest,” I’m welcoming really fun, interesting people into my barn in East Hampton for good food and conversation.”
Although exact details for the upcoming series have yet to be revealed, Garten and her welcoming persona will captivate viewers. From relatable moments to delectable dishes, the food from her kitchen is always served with a warm smile.
Thinking about potential guests for this upcoming series, it would be nice to see people outside of the food world. While celebrities and chefs fill food television programming, some lesser well-known faces can have engaging stories that deserve to be told. From a farmer with years of experience to an artist with an intriguing point of view, the list of potential guests could be quite long.
At the same time, this new series seems to bring an important point to the food conversation. The idea of hospitality and good conversation can be lacking in some food television programs. While food competitions fill the screens, it seems that sometime the uniting factor that food offers has been pushed off the plate. Hopefully with this new programming, more meaningful conversation can be served with an impeccable recipe.
Until “Be My Guest” debuts in 2022, Garten fans can watch a new season of “Barefoot Contessa: Modern Comfort Food” on Food Network, Sunday October 31 at 12:30 p.m. EST/PST.
