Get ready to hear more of his signature laughter because Michael Symon has a new Food Network culinary competition. Set to debut on December 7, Throwdown with Michael Symon adds a few twists and turns as he battles some of the greatest chefs and restaurateurs in this heated battle.

According to the Food Network, the show’s premise has an unknown factor. With Symon not knowing the chef and the chefs do not know that Symon is their competition, the twist could make that take on the signature dishes a little more spirited.

As Symon shared “On Throwdown, we get to showcase some of America’s greatest chefs and restaurateurs while also getting the opportunity to flex my competitive side, too. Needing to think quickly and take chances in making someone else’s signature dish, all the while not knowing who I’m competing against and battling it out in their wheelhouse, I couldn’t think of a more perfect challenge!”

Food Network fans have enjoyed watching Symon on various culinary competitions and food TV shows over the years. While his culinary creativity has always been a standout, his personality is one of the reasons viewers return. Always affable, Symon has become a stand out Food Network personality.

What can fans expect from Throwdown with Michael Symon?

While the premise of the food TV show is fairly straightforward, the draw will be the episode theme and the witty banter served with the food. Until there is an actual “taste-o-vision” experience with food TV, people have to engage with the shows in other ways. While spirited comments back at the screen are common, it is more than just another what were they thinking moment.

According to the Food Network, the four-part series features topics like BBQ Burgers, Georgian Cheesy Bread, Chicken Shawarma and Asian Fried Chicken. Given that Symon has wide culinary knowledge, all of these themes are in his wheelhouse. Although the BBQ Burger episode might lien towards the Iron Chef.

Even though Throwdown with Michael Symon has only a few episodes for its debut, it could (and maybe should) have additional episodes in the future. These type of “throwdown” programs have been a hit with Food Network viewers. Even though there are many culinary competitions filling the schedule, a little new twist is always welcome.

The debut of Throwdown with Michael Symon airs on December 7 at 9:30 p.m. EST with a second episode airing immediately following the premiere.
